For the Birds

These are some great handmade birdhouses made by Jeff Canham (one of my favorites) and Luke Bartels, as part of their “For the Birds” show at the Curiosity Shoppe. A great example how copy can literally make a product. via @andyincolor

The year was 1972. Moon walks were recent history and space exploration was all the rage. (And glory of glories, Tang was still sold at the grocery store.) NASA sent out the unmanned Pioneer 10 as a sort of calling card to the universe. It was the first spacecraft to leave the solar system. This [...]

I saw Peter Callesen’s work in a book in the Subtext pop-up book store at the #fiestamovement party hosted by Holiday Matinee and Sezio. Being a lifetime orgami practitioneer, I’m always amazed to see what people can do with a single piece of paper. But not only are the paper cut-out sculptures amazing, Peter also [...]

Breathe Architecture and Lulamae teamed up to create a pop-up boutique out of cardboard in Melbourne, Australia. All recycled of course. Photographs by Andrew Wuttke.

Greenmarket The need for healthier and more artisanal foods has grown from traditional farmers’ markets to greenmarkets. Gatherings Inspired primarily [...]

An op-ed guy

John Hendrix is featured is this months Comm Arts (one of the few magazines I subscribe to.) In addition to working as an illustrator for a host of magazines, he worked as an Art Director on the New York op-ed page. Some pretty thought provoking pieces. I love the banners on each of the pages [...]
