One of my favorites, Mike Perry, artist, illustrator and curator of books like Hand Job and Over and Over, has an exhibition entitled Lost in the Discovery of What Shapes the Mind at MCAD in Minneapolis. I'm drawn to his work because his hand-drawn type adds a human touch that is lacking in much of today's design.
Cardboard Pop-up
The pop-up store is a retail trend that makes sense around the holidays. Hit all the shoppers while they're out on the town buying up a storm. Breathe Architecture and Lulamae teamed up to create a pop-up boutique out of cardboard in Melbourne, Australia. All recycled of course.

With flying colors
Pantone, the esteemed purveyor of color released new color trends for 2010. All I can ask is, who names this stuff? (I always thought it would be fun to name lipsticks and fingernail polish shades.) Greenmarket The need for healthier and more artisanal foods has grown from traditional farmers’ markets to greenmarkets.
Gatherings Inspired primarily by the continent of Africa with its vastness and complexities, Gatherings brings together a compilation of colors that demonstrate the uniqueness of the region.
Galaxy Purveyor and source of light, the mysterious Galaxy is well reflected in a palette that truly illustrates the harmony of hue found in the nocturnal sky.

An op-ed guy
John Hendrix is featured is this months Comm Arts (one of the few magazines I subscribe to.) In addition to working as an illustrator for a host of magazines, he worked as an Art Director on the New York op-ed page. Some pretty thought provoking pieces. I love the banners on each of the pages on his site.
More fun with type.
A fun video with flying type by El Cuarteto de Nos out of Montevideo, Uruguay. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9LlnLTH87U&color1=0xcccccc&color2=0xcfcfcf&feature=player_embedded&fs=1]
